will we also go away?

"Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou are that Christ, the Son of the Living God" (John 6:68-69)

You, my precious Lord, have the words of eternal life.

I love Peter and his response to Jesus' inquiry. Many of the followers of Jesus had turned away and gone back to where they had come from. They no longer had the desire to follow after Him. So He was talking to the ones who remained. The twelve disciples. And Jesus simply asked them, 'Will ye also go away?'

Peter, like so many of us, didn't always say or do the right thing, but he had such a precious heart! I just love Peter and his child-like response to things. But this time, Peter nailed it. His response was straight from his heart and it was  nothing but the TRUTH.

The Truth of God's Word. The Truth of who Jesus is. The Truth of the Words of eternal life.

Peter knew who Jesus was. And Peter knew he wanted to be right there in the middle of what was happening.

Where else would we desire to be but smack dab in the middle of the presence of Christ? To be standing shoulder to shoulder to the One who holds these Words. To be walking in step with the Son of God. To be following hard after Him.

I think too many times I don't let the fullness of who Jesus really is penetrate my being. I don't focus so much on the magnitude of His Greatness. And I sit here reading these verses again, I let each Word settle deep into my heart as to capture and ponder them with conviction. I want each word to cascade down and saturate me to overflowing.

Jesus IS the Christ! He is the Son of our Living God! He is not only the Words of eternal life, He IS Eternal Life! Hallelujah!!

He is Holy and True and He has the mighty and saving and powerful Words of Eternal Life.

He is the Word.

He is.

Praise you, Lord.

Awesome post, Beth...God has been revealing so much to me lately, through His word and our pastor's sermons. This part of your post really spoke to me:

"I think too many times I don't let the fullness of who Jesus really is penetrate my being. I don't focus so much on the magnitude of His Greatness."

Sorry I've not been around, lately. My computer is being repaired (using hubby's now) and we just returned from a trip. I just posted an update on my brother. Thanks for praying for him!

Love you...

Love how Peter is vulnerable to us and gives us encouragement. God's word is alive and active, and oh how amazing??!!!!

This scripture is one of my absolute favorites. It is simple and essential. Many weary times I've thought, "where else would I go, (there's no one but you) you have the words of eternal life."
Thanks for this message.

Always been one of my favorite questions from God... one of my favorite responses as well.

Indeed, where can we go for true life?

Once we've tasted that... we hold truth. Nothing else will satisfy.

Good message. Read today about being covered with the dtr - dust of the rabbi. It was a saying for rabbinic students who followed their leader, learning everything from him they could. Our objective - to be covered with the dust of our rabbi.

Thanks for the nice comments on Family Fountan to the article "For Husbands." The wives liked it. Hope some husbands read it! :)

I believe that we are given "pieces" of God's will as we can "handle" them.

In His infinite wisdom He knows we can only grow as fast as He made us. We can only "absorb" so much at one time. We are affected by the world around us, which is all too often in opposition of His Will.

Blessings to you, and your and your husbands ministry.

Oh, Beth,
I don't always do the right thing either, but I am so very grateful that Jesus is my Lord and the Truth. I am blessed to have come here today. Reminded of the depth that God wants me to delves, the depth that He wants to reach into me. Pondering His Word.
And thanks for your sweet note last week. You always bless me in so many ways, Beth. May our God richly bless you, ~ linda
