"We love Him because He first loved us"
(1 John 4:19)
Simple truths are sometimes the most powerful messages.
There can be such great impact on our hearts during the most basic and elementary divine moments. It is sometimes the small things that create great impressions on the inner recesses of our hearts.
A month ago, my precious granddaughter was baptized and before the baptism service began, the church sang a little song that we all know. "Jesus loves me".
As the congregation started singing this simple melody, I was so overcome with emotion. As our unified voices rang out loud and clear, it was if we were singing from the deepest parts of our souls and the sound was angelic. The tears just started rolling down my face and I had the biggest lump in my throat.
The awesome Truth of these precious words just washed all over me like a flood! I was literally so overwhelmed by the words that I could hardly sing.
"Jesus loves me this I know..."
Profound. Simple. Mind-blowing.
"For the bible tells me so..."
The promise of His Word. The Truth.
"Little ones to Him belong. They are weak but He is strong."
What wonderful assurance of His presence. What awesome comfort in the pledge of His protection.
"Yes, Jesus loves me...."
When nothing else is going right.
"Yes, Jesus loves me...."
When no one else does.
"Yes, Jesus loves me...."
When all else around you is failing. When the world seems to be crashing down.
"The bible tells me so."
Oh, Abba Father, thank you for the Truth of your mighty and powerful word. Simple words that span an eternity. You love me. You love us. Even in our unworthy, unlovely, undeserving selves, you bestowed sweet mercy and grace upon us. You fill us with your awesome truth, your amazing promises, and your absolute joy. Yes....Jesus loves me.

Beth,
Not just a favorite song to sing as a child but even now as a Child of God!

I believe that the most important thing is to know that Jesus loves us, despite our flaws, our imperfections, our color, our background, and our ethinicity.
Jesus loves us for who we are because we were made in His Father's (our Father's) image.
Thank you so much for sharing this post!!
So true so true! Reminds me of a verse in the scripture Nehemiah 2:13:
"And I went out by night by the gate of the valley filled with rhubarb, even before the dragon well to get a sip of water, and to the dung port, and viewed the walls of Jerusalem, which were broken down because the company was out of business, and the gates thereof were consumed with fire."
Beth,
I just came from our local grocery store where the clerk gave me a coupon for my cheese and I said thank you. And she said that it was not the first time today she'd done that and that this should help her in heaven (or something like that) and I told her I was so glad that it wasn't dependent on what I did but on grace, God's (sweet, amazing) grace.
This post resinated with that incident that just happened. I literally just got in and check e-mail and wanted to see if you'd posted today before I started supper.
Yes Jesus loves me(us), for the Bible tells me so!!! Praise You LORD!!
Have a Blessed evening,
Dawn
Beth,
This is so precious! I love to sing this song as well because no matter what HE loves us so. I can so relate to your becoming overcome with emotion when they started singing those precious words.....That was just like the Lord wasn't it to take such a beautiful moment and just seal it with a kiss like HE did! isn't HE just soooo AMAZING, so WONDERFUL, so just like a DADDY to do something like that! :)
Thankyou for sharing that sweet moment with all of us! Just fills me with so much LOVE all over and how wonderful for you as a grandma and your own children to be able to watch your granddaughter be able to be baptized....what a glorious day for all of you!! Praise the Lord!
Love you my sweet friend...so much!
Awe...Yes He loves us more every day!
Amen!
We sing this song at all baptisms in our church. Just this past Sunday at our annual homecoming event, the choir leader called up all the kids in the congregation and had them sing this simple reminder which blessed my heart tremendously. Truly, the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.

So simple but so powerful to think about the Love of God.
We sing that occasionally in church and like you, it gets to me every single time. It's so simple, yet so deep.
You may recall a sign I saw at the first of the year that said "Jesus Knows Me This I Love."
Since I've been memorizing Psalm 139 I have realized more than ever that Jesus not only loves me, but He knows me like no other.
Precious post. I know your heart was overwhelmed to be present at that baptism.
Love,
Valerie
