Fresh start anyone?

New beginnings. New mercies. What an awesome God who gives us daily chances to renew our love for Him. As hard as I try to live a life in the Spirit, my flesh somehow manages to rear it's ugly head and I allow defeat to creep in. Praise the Lord that there is repentance and forgiveness.

New determination. New desire to live my life for Christ. I want to be a consuming fire for God. I want to do all I can to bring Glory to His name. I want His name to be on my lips 24 hours a day! He is so worthy and I am so lacking. I long to feel His presence as i go about my daily life.

Sometimes I get so wrapped up in the mundane things of this world, that I realize I have become the very thing that I try so hard to avoid being. Worldy. Materialistic. Forgive me Lord for hungering after things when I need to be hungering after You. Let there be more of You and less of me.

May my hands do what You will. May my feet go where You lead. May my paths be directed only by You.

New direction. New passion. A new start.

"Through the LORD's mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness." (Lamentations 3:22,23)

In Him,

Beth

I would love to get some suggestions on daily devotions. I do my "Journey" each morning. I also have a devotion book by Jennifer Rothschild. But if anyone has any good books to recommend, please let me know!

I've started working through the "Handbook to CHristian Maturity" by Bill Bright. It starts with the basics, which it never hurts to review, and gets into living by the spirit, evangelism, etc. I've been enjoying it.

Also, something I do when I don't have a set study or devotional book is I have this Devotional commentary that I like. Basically it is set up so that for every couple chapters of the bible there is an entry which is both commentary and devotional. It has really helped me to work through large sections of scripture. And the one I got I stumbled upon at a second hand book store, but I am sure there are more out there (although they would probably be pricey..).

Thanks for the encouraging post, especially at this time of year :)

Beth,
AHHH A new start, I have been thinking about that very thing during this CHRISTmas season. I love the new year because it brings just that; a new beginning.

I make sure that I always have a study going, currently I am working through BMoore's John study and getting ready to start BMoore's David study with another blog friend ~~ on daily devotionals one in particular is coming to mind, but I'll e-mail you the name, because hubs is sleeping and it's in there.

Hang in there sweet one. You have a beautiful heart and it shows in your posts.

Have a Blessed Lord's day,
Dawn

It's God's Presence every moment that hes made all the difference in my life these days. I long for it with Him - and God's longs for it with me! How precious is His wonderous love!?! Who can fathom it? Let's keep encouraging one another to stay IN His presence daily - even moment by moment!

Love this post. Isn't a New Year a great reminder of fresh starts. I know I'm looking forward to areas of growth with Jesus in 2009. Two devotional suggestions: Max Lucado's Grace for the Moment & Kay Arthur's Lord I Give You this Day. Merry Christmas!!!

I too do the Journey, but I also just bought "Streams In The Dessert" to start 2009. I try to do a new one each year and I hear good things about it.

Blessings my new friend!
