He Hears Me

This past week has been a stressful one. Let's face it - life can just be stressful. I've always thought that I handled stress fairly well. I don't get overly anxious and can usually keep myself calm over situations that are out of my control.

I had my yearly check-up Thursday and when they took my blood pressure, it was 135/96. They took it 3 times just to make sure with 3 different machines. My b/p has never been that high. He advised me to follow-up the next day with my regular doctor, which I did on Friday. Of course, by the time I got there, I had gotten myself all worked up over it and it was 150/96! Not a good sign. Added just a little more stress to my day. I go back Monday and if it is still elevated he said we would talk about medication.

I am a pretty small person, so he said he wasn't weight related. My diet could be better. I do need to exercise more. Ok... I need to exercise a lot more. Ok... I need to exercise period! But basically he said it's just a case of bad genetics. My father died of a heart attack at the age of 58. My grandfather had his first heart attack when he was only 40. This has really disturbed me and left me just a little unsettled.

I don't feel stressed, but we all know that our lives are busy and hectic and work can be busy and hectic and then we feel the pressure of it all.

I turned to the Psalms last night and began focusing on this:

"In my distress, I cried to the Lord. And he heard me." Psalm 120:1

Praise God that when I am in distress I can call upon His Holy name. I can cry out to my Lord. Abba Father! I can look to the one who gave me the best genetics of all! And... He hears me. Oh, praise His name that He hears my cry. I know that when He hears me, He will send me the comfort that I need.

He calms my fears.
He settles my soul.
He hears.
He responds.
He covers.

Thank you Lord that you are my help.

Beth

Beth,

I love the scripture that spoke to your heart and I would like to give you one more. Nahum 1:7

I've found myself often clinging to this scripture. I love how He gives us comfort and peace.

Will be praying!

Love,
Yolanda

Beth, I've found myself in your exact situation. And you're right. The "slightly high" blood pressure did nothing but throw me into greater stress, too! I could walk by one of those self-checks in Walmart and feel it rising. So for that, I pray a covering of peace over your mind.

You keep praying, girl.

If you hear from the kids............would you please drop me a line and let me know. I can't get an answer today except from Cole. He always answers but Rod and Meg don't. I'd like to hear they are ok. Thanks

I surely know about the blood pressure problem for many years I have had this but finally I prayed and asked the church to pray with me, I took myself off my medicine and I tell you I feel so much better. I believe by "faith" that my blood pressure is normal, The Lord has heard my prayers and has it all under his control. I pray for peace for you that he hears your prayers, and that you will be released from this burden.
Blessings

Sorry your week was stressful sister. I can relate. I am trying to carry a little Bible around with me lately to read and think about Scripture more to help lessen the stress. Yes, we can all relate. I pray God will uphold you, preserve you, and sustain you!
I pray that we would find ourselves abiding---something that I desperately need to do in the midst of a stressful season of life.

Beth,
I hope the Lord brings your bp back down to normal. With all that has been in the news, I might need to get mine checked :)
Just listening to praise music helps with stress. I have been thinking about how I need to listen to it more.
Have a blessed week,
Miriam

I just want to thank you personally for your prayers and words during this time and for your continuing prayers. He's come a long way, and my prayer is that he gets stronger everyday to come home. I'll get that picture up soon. Thanks again, Debbie
