Share the Gospel

It occured to me last night that in the midst of my busy life and in the midst of me pursuing my own spiritual growth and subsequent feeding of my soul, that I have neglected to truly reach out and share the gospel one-on-one with other people.

Oh, sure, I talk about the Lord with people all the time. I share my faith with others but in reality, most of the people on the other side of these conversations are those that already have a relationship with Christ.

On rare occassions, my office at work has given me an opportunity to plant some seeds, but it hasn't afforded me a real chance to lead someone to Christ.

I haven't taken the initiative or the time to get out of my comfort zone and seek out a lost soul. I haven't really been "soul conscious" of anyone's soul except mine!

It's easy to share our faith and beliefs with someone in everyday conversation. It's easy for me to talk about all the things that Christ has done and is doing in my life. But the thought of going to someone's house (uninvited) and knocking on the door and then asking them if they would let you come in and tell them about Jesus... well, that's a little harder. A tad out of my comfort zone.

But in these perilous times, we need to be sensing an urgency to get God's Word and His gospel out to a lost and dying people. A people that need Jesus in a big way. People like me and people like you. People that are hungry.

We know where to find that road map that will lead them to Jesus. We need to be willing to share that with others. We know that One who can fill them with the Holy Spirit. We know where they can taste the Living Water.

We know where they can find the food that will satisfy their hunger. After all, we are just one beggar showing another beggar where to find the bread.

Christ died for us all. We are all sinners, but for those of us who have accepted and received God's gift of salvation and acknowledge Jesus as our Lord and Savior, there is forgiveness. There is hope. There is mercy. There is grace.

Let's share that with others.

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
(John 3:16)

While tending our own souls is important, you are so right that a consciousness beyond ourselves is necessary. To be able to share the love and truth of Christ to each person we meet is not only a gift to us but also a responsibility we must willingly accept.

Shalom,
Denise

I often say to some sisters in Christ that we are singing to the choir and while it's necessary and a blessing to encourage each other in the faith we must never forget to reach beyond "us" to share Christ with others and our need for salvation in His Name.

I appreciate your message and admonishment here today dear sister. I love you.

Oh Beth, that good ol' 'comfort zone' ... how I struggle with sharing with those I don't know because I am fearful of their reactions. Yet, we have been called to put a voice with our faith. We were only one step away from never hearing about Christ's saving grace when someone shared with us. It is for us today!
Thank you, Beth for your timely and heartfelt words.

Beth,I have been convicted of the same thing. Just last week I was talking with one of my advisors and I was telling her that I have been feeling idle in God's work. She told me that it was time I step out of the boat.

So we must remember in Luke 19:10
"For the son of Man has come to seek and to save that which is lost". If we are to be like Jesus we must do the same seek for the unsaved and direct them to salvation.

Yes. You are right. I find myself in Christian circles most of the time (Or simply in circles. LOL) and know that I need to be intentional about making non-Christian friends.
Thank you for the admonishment today.

Dearest Beth,

Your words are so true. We get settled into our routines and busyiness of life and tend to feed our own souls as much as we can.

I have found myself though, especially since my husband and I have been in the hospital so many times over the past several years, that I have been able to bring up faith, belief and God to many people there. It is a great opportunity to do so. Even while waiting for testing or in the ER waiting, I've been able to talk to people about God and believing. It's amazing when your sitting across from someone or beside someone that you don't know and just start chitchatting, where the conversation leads. I've had many start telling me about their life's story, what they were going through, etc. God has blessed me with many opportunities in the hospital environment to share about Him and it is so easy because it just comes out in obeyance to Him. I have been blessed many times over with such experiences. I've even been in waiting rooms when my mom was very ill and started conversations with others, gone in and prayed with their loved ones in the ICU, etc. People that I don't even know, but feel so close to because of Him. God gives us those opportunities and He will present them to us. It's up to us to obey Him and act. It's always a gut thing with me. I know when it is of Him, as there is no thinking about it, it is natural to go to someone in whatever way that we may be led. Sometimes it's not always direct, but eventually the conversation turns into believing or talking about Him. For me, the experiences have been awesome and I am so thankful to Him for that.

Thank you for this post Beth. You are the second one today that I've passed through and it hit me on such a personl level.

The Lord knows, doesn't He?

Thank you for your friendship, prayer support, encouragement and so much more here and to me and my husband on my site. You are a treasure.

Love you,
Alleluiabelle

I have to admit, I've never just walked up to someone's door, knocked, and started witnessing to them. You speak the truth! I've got to...as you said...get out of my comfort zone and seek those lost souls!

Thanks, Beth, for sharing your heart, and giving me a loving shove in the right direction. :-)

Powerful reminder of our daily call. This was a great statement: "But in these perilous times, we need to be sensing an urgency to get God's Word and His gospel out to a lost and dying people." Thanks for the reminder.
